WHAT IS A GLOBAL LANGUAGE ?
A global language is a language which is spoken
internationally and learned by most of the people as a second language. A
global language is characterized both by the number of speakers and by its
geographical distribution, international organization and in diplomatic
relations.
The
world’s most widely used language is English that has over 1.8 billion speakers
worldwide. The international prominence of Arabic has its historical and
religious reason in the medieval Islamic conquests. Standard Chinese is the
direct replacement of Classical Chinese which was a historical lingua franca in
Far East Asia until the early 20th century. In addition, today it is spoken by
not only within China proper, but also in overseas Chinese communities as a
common language. Moreover, it is widely taught as a second language
internationally. Russian was spoken in the Soviet Union and The Russian Empire
in the past, and is spoken and widely understood in central and Eastern Europe,
Northern and Central Asia in today’s world. Besides, it remains the lingua
franca in the Commonwealth of Independent States. German also is used as a
lingua franca in large parts of Europe for centuries, basically the Holy Roman
Empire and later the Austro-Hungarian Empire. It keeps being an important
second language in much of Eastern and Central Europe, and in the international
scientific community, as well.
SHOULD THERE BE A GLOBAL LANGUAGE OR NOT?
We are in the favor of a global language for an international
and easier communication. Today, even in a country there are many dialects of a
language and this causes handicaps, when it comes to communicate in an easy
way.
When you want to go to a foreign country and live there, you have to learn
the language being spoken there and after going there, you will probably see
that it varies from city to city. Then just think about all languages, dialects
and varieties, you will easily get it that not having a global language prevents
you to communicate with all people. Thanks to a global language, people unify
in a common communication point.
The idea that one country is better than the other in terms of
wealth of languages will also disappear with the help of global language.
Not having a global language is a barrier in literature field.
All over the world, we have many well-beloved and valuable writers, poets and
critics whose works are really priceless, but when we try to translate them to
any language, there emerge a lot of conflicts and losses of meaning.
Via a global language trades, business and travels would be easier,
because you will not have a problem like communicating and will easily handle
your affairs.
When you go to abroad or come across a foreign in your
country, you psychologically feel
that you cannot speak to him/her because of not knowing each other's language
or a common language.
By the way, not having a global language is also a barrier
in political field and international relationships. For example, in
international interviews leaders have to have interpreters to understand each
other and despite them sometimes, they may misunderstand each other. EU is
trying to translate lots of documents to many language and update them in
intervals.
Shortly, a global language is indispensable for all
humankind. We all need it for a complete communication.

Dear all my friends;
YanıtlaSilI think you have made a very good job and I appreciate your writing.Especially,I agree with the point that you said"translating a literary genre into another language leads to loss of intense meaning and I come acroos an article saying that even Noble-winner writers lack of intense meaning in other languages. However,I am sorry to declare that I am not on the same point over the fact that by means of a global, common and unique language, humanbeing will be more social and successful.ın my opinion, this is not such a case.Having multi-languages shows multi-culture and difference as well as respect and different point of view.I also think that many people all over the world survive thanks to their knowledge of foreign language with which we will also make money in the future. But for owning such kind of professions and jobs,Maybe there would exist a chaos and partly poverty. To sum up,I love your writing and selection of photos,as well. You are very successful and tidy:)
Dear friends,
YanıtlaSilI agree wih Yasin about your job. Firstly, I appreciated you, too. I think you have done it very well. Secondly, ı learned some things thanks to your reflection. Thanks. Also, there must be a global language to communicate easily with people from all around world etc. but I think it includes some negative ways. For examle; the language which is accepted as a global language is destroyed in the process of time.. It wasn't mentioned in the passage. Finally, I like organization of paragraph and visual.
Dear Şeval, Kübra, Seda and Betül;
YanıtlaSilFirstly, I appreciate that you have done a really good work. You mentioned a lot of different aspect of having a global language. People generally think about economical benefits of it, but considering literal works has really impressed me. In addition, I really agree with you about the barrier in political fields. There are a lot of politicans who cannot express themselves and say what they really want in a foreign language or translations can cause misunderstandings. A global language can really help to resolve those types of problems. Finally, I like your opinions and the way you support them with images.
Good job! :)
Dear Kübra, Seda, Şevval and Betül,
YanıtlaSilI appreciate you. You have done a very job. You provided us with very essential knowledge. Thanks. You mentioned several aspects of having a global language. I liked your ideas about the topic. I also liked your writing style and organization. You used effective visuals.
Good job :) I liked it.
Dear friends;
YanıtlaSilInitially, thanks for your good writing. You mentioned some important points. I agree with you in terms of the necessity of having a a global language.People all have different cultures and languages around the world, so unify them in one aspect would be a good idea.I think people shouldn't consider this idea as a loss of our identity.Everyone can keep on to live his/her culture within the boundaries of countries, but when it comes to internatiol, a global language would do good. Also, I really find sensible your ideas about 'equality' aspect. Thanks to a global language, everyone can be able to speak the same language, and no discrimation will occur. To sum up, I appreciate your ideas.
Well done!
Dear friends;
YanıtlaSilFirst of all, I appreciate your good work. You have provided us an informative, a well-written, colorful writing. You have explained your ideas in different aspects by supporting them with sensible examples. I definitely agree with you in terms of literature field. Because it is clearly seen that when a novel or a literal work is translated into other languages, it loses its intense meaning. Therefore, I believe that global language is necessary. I also like your other ideas about different aspects. You have done a good work and made us think positively about the global language. Thanks for your efforts:)
Dear Kübra, Seda, Şevval and Betül,
YanıtlaSilFirst of all I would like to appreciate you. I like your ideas about global language. Also, your writing is very fluent and explanatory.I agree with your idea especially on the subject of literature because we can easily understand renowned worldwide works by the help of global language. Moreover, it sounds great that we can express ourselves properly to other people in the world. To sum up , I realy like your idea ,visual and writing style.
Excellent!
Dear friends,
YanıtlaSilFirstly, I want to congratulate all of you. This is a really informative work and is worth to read. It attracts people to your ideas and it makes people think about the subject again. I agree with your opinions, there has to be a global language to prevent hardships in communication. You make another good point by mentioning literary problems, as well. In addition, the pictures you use are colourful and related to the subject. They give a magic touch to thr article. However, I think you need more than one argumantatibe questions because this is a disputable subject. To conclude, I liked your work and your using the language. Thanks for your efforts! :)
Dear friends,
YanıtlaSilInitially, thanks for all your efforts .It is a good topic which can be discussed in our daily life .It is a general topic ,so people can add something to your opinions or they can share their negative feeling freely.I think it is a important thing. Furthermore , I agree with you about the necessity of a global language. As I read , I learned interesting things as well , so it is very informative for me. Furthermore , this is really colourful.Hence , I think it is a important to draw attention .I admit that it caught my eyes!
Dear friends,
YanıtlaSilYou've made a good job. I love your ideas and the way you express them. This text is quite informative and written well-roundedly but in the second paragraph I can’t understand the relationship about a global language except for the first sentence of it. You’ve mentioned different points other than economic aspects of a global language such as in the field of literature, which is a good point. However, there are a lot of languages in which so many great novels and poems are written. For example, there are so many masterpieces in different languages such as Russian, French, English and etc. So, even if there is a global language we need translations somehow; that is, unfortunately, these works losses the intensity in their meaning somehow. Another thing that I don’t agree with you is that global language is indispensible because knowing a language globally spoken is an advantage not a necessity. If you do not know a globally spoken language, it doesn’t mean that you have to learn but if you know, it will be better for you. Totally, it is a good text, I should say that it is enjoying to read and think about it. I hope I will read more texts from you ..
Dear friends,
YanıtlaSilI really liked the topic and also the blog itself. It's very practical. You've written a very informative text. I mostly agree with you about using a global language, we should use it for a second language. I mean, it'd be better if we learn it as a foreign language, because it is very hard to decide to what language should be the global language. Almost every country would suggest their own, I guess. By the way, I am not sure if you think like me or not, if so please ignore this comment.. I also really like the organization of the text and images. Good job :)
Dear all my friends,
YanıtlaSilInitially, I appreciate you because you have done a very good job. It is a good topic which we always deal.I like your ideas about global language. I mean your writing is rather informative. Additionally, I read it unreluctantly. Your writing includes a lot of different subject of having a global language. I agree with you on the necessity of a global language. I think there always must be a global language to speak the same language. It makes people unify. What's more, you have used the picture which related to the subject. It is an enjoyable writing. All in all, I like your writing. Thanks for your efforts. :)
My Dear Friends,
YanıtlaSilFirstly, like everyone, I appreciate you all. It's really good job. Contrary to your opinions, I think, being a global language doesn't create difference so much. I think if there was a different language that just used in international communucation, nations' mother tongues would damage more. Because, even now, just English is regarded a lingua franca even it is not, being known it as a second language for communicating international is destroying our languages day by day. If there was a language that everyone should know, this would be harmful for culture, communication, differences of each nation, etc. besides its benefits. They are my opinions about this topic. I think the way of communication today is as it should be, not more not less. Thank you for your efforts. Good luck for presentation :)
Dear friends,
YanıtlaSilI congratulate you for this good job. Your writing is well-done and to the point. To begin with, you have mentioned very important points of the global language, and you have also supported your ideas properly. In addition, the choices of visuals has enriched the writing. I totally agree that a global language can make our lives easier. I appreciate you for your work :)
Dear my friends,
YanıtlaSilFirst of all,I want to appreciate you for doing a good job.You touch on very important points of global language. To be honest,I learned something I haven't heard before. For instance, you say lingua franca and I didn't know what it is.Thanks to your writing,I learned ıt.Additionally, you say 'the global language is important in terms of trade, diplomatic relations, communication with the foreigners, etc.'I agree with you from this point.Global language means common language. However,I don't think all of the countries, especially undeveloped ones, have a global language term. Finally, the last sentence has a great importance to understand what global language is,'we all need it for a complete communication.'To sum up,I really learned about it and I love your informing, thanks
I remember that we had a journal writing about this topic in previous writing course. It seems you organized this well. But i will be waiting for your presentation for an exact comment
YanıtlaSilHello,
YanıtlaSilI appreciate your effort and agree with most of what you wrote.
Though, I would like to remind you that English has also many dialects as well, just like all other languages. :)
Ugur YD
Dear Friends,
YanıtlaSilFirstly, I want to say that you have made a great job. You mentioned many different things. I'm also in the favor of a global language. Personally, meeting new people and going abroad is very important for me. If there weren't a global language, we wouldn't communicate. You also mention to literal works. I agree with your opinions. Finally,I really like your paragraphes, visuals.Good job .
Dear friends,
YanıtlaSilI think you did an amazing project and you provided really interesting details that can stay in mind. We as ELT students will play a crucial role in the spreading of the current world language - English, and questions like the ones you presented are important for us to understand. Thank you for your great job, and stay positive! ^^
Dear friends,
YanıtlaSilI really appreciate your work. You mentioned about this topic interestingly, so this makes us thoughtful about it. I agree with your ideas. Today, while we can't even communicate in the same language, we don't need extra barriers with different language. I hope, global language may help us about it. Thanks for your effort :)
thanks you all four .this is a very wide issue to talk about . i just want to say ,the world people has come closer because of global language .they can express their feelings and ideas by this .
YanıtlaSilDear friends,
YanıtlaSilThank you for your all efforts. I think there should be global language absolutely, but it doesn't mean that one country is better than another just because they speak one language. Everyone could get along and may be even the wars would fade away, eventually. Also, communication would no longer be a problem. Business, travel, and trade would be much easier because we can all talk to each other easily. It's wonderful !
Dear friends ,
YanıtlaSilFirst of alI,I really appreciate your work. You supported your ideas in a very detailed way. I also think that there can be a global language that all people can communicate. When all people from different countries speak one language, we may get rid of our bias. Thanks for your efforts.
Dear friends,
YanıtlaSilThe topic is very interesting for language learners like us.It is being talked everywhere but when we read from you,we can understand what is happening. The order of the subtopics is chosen and explained well.It was good to read this.Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us :)
Dear friends,
YanıtlaSilI enjoyed reading it. It is a interesting topic, I like it. It is well organized. I learned something I haven't heard before thanks to you. In my opinion, there can be a global language so that everyone can communicate without an extra effort. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us.
